Conor McHugh is a music composer and producer living in Los Angeles, California. His interest in music began at a young age from watching his father, David McHugh, a veteran film composer, known for such films as Mystic Pizza, Mr. North, and Moscow on the Hudson. Conor got his start in music by getting involved in hip-hop, writing music and producing for artists based in North Carolina such as 2nd Revolution, Scottie Flippen, Pic Squad, and The Solos Unit. He has a BA in Film Studies from Appalachian State University, and a MFA in Film Music Composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. After completing school, Conor moved to Los Angeles to intern at Hans Zimmer's studio, Remote Control Productions, where he worked as a sample editor and technical assistant to Mr. Zimmer. Conor has also worked as an assistant to Castle composers Kim Planert and Robert Duncan, and worked as a sample editor on the CinePerc library for Cinesamples.
Currently, Conor works as an assistant to film composer Atli Örvarsson, and also composes music for iSpy Music and Noiselab, two music libraries based out of Los Angeles. He enjoys writing in many different genres and is in a constant search for new and creative ways to blend multiple styles of music and sound. Aside from his work in film music, he enjoys producing a variety of projects, from pop music to wedding processionals, and while much of his work is done solo, he always appreciates a collaborative approach to music production as well.
When he isn't in the studio, Conor can be found in the kitchen, on the golf course or beach, hiking one of Southern California's many trails, and spending time with his wife, Kaitlin, daughter, Mariella, and son Robinson.
